Prior to the Book Fair I visited the bookshop with three enthusiastic volunteers from the library committee in order to select titles for the event. Following a thorough browse around the whole shop, and lots of great bookish chat with the shop staff who are always spot-on with recommendations and advice, the boys went armed with a barcode scanner to select the books.
Their choices were inspired and intuitive, who better to select books than the readers themselves, and the boys ensured that the Book Fair includes a wide range of genres covering all reading ages and abilities. Our selection of non-fiction includes accessible titles in politics, economics and history as well as poetry and biographies. The fiction we have stocked is also incredibly varied and includes novels by well-known and debut authors, classic texts and brand-new releases, graphic novels and popular series.
The Book Fair is already generating lots of interest as well as some great discussions about books, genres and topical issues. Special thanks to committee members Lukas M, Aonghas M, and Hamish J for choosing the books, and to library prefect Callum R for helping set up the event.
