At Merchiston Castle School, community is at the heart of everything we do. From the relationships built between pupils, staff and families, to lifelong connections with alumni, local partnerships and international collaborations, belonging is a defining part of the Merchiston experience.
Ours is a community that extends far beyond the classroom. Parents play an active role in school life, former pupils remain closely connected through The Merchistonian Club, and our pupils are encouraged to make a meaningful contribution within our local community through volunteering, outreach and service.
Our partnerships also broaden horizons. Through our long-standing relationship with St George’s School for Girls, pupils benefit from shared academic, creative and social experiences, while our connection with Merchiston International School reflects the growing global reach of a Merchiston education.
Closer to home, we are proud to play an active role in the local community through educational outreach, charitable initiatives, events and partnerships that bring people together and create opportunities for others.
Whether as a current family, former pupil, local partner, supporter or friend of the School, being part of Merchiston means being part of something that lasts well beyond a child’s time here.

“The sense of community at Merchiston is exceptional. From the teachers to the pastoral team, everyone genuinely cared about our son’s wellbeing. It always felt like a place where he could thrive, both inside and outside the classroom.”
