Merchiston’s Summer Golf Camp 2019

Next year’s dates are to be decided, join our mailing list to be the first to know!

Professional coaching and development at the No.1 UK Junior Golf School* and No.2 UK Senior Golf School**.

Established in 2011, Merchiston’s week long golf training programmes allow golfers to develop their swing technique and overall understanding of the game. Golf is based at the world class facility of nearby Kings Acre Golf Course & Academy, which is a par 70, 18 hole course set in beautiful parkland. Few golf academies can rival the set-up at Kings Acre with its internationally renowned instruction. The fantastic facilities include 30 covered bays, four fully equipped teaching studios and a short game area with two USGA greens, making Kings Acre the ideal venue for the Merchiston Summer Golf Programme.

The camps will be led by Alan Murdoch (Director of Golf, ISGA U15 Scotland School Boys Coach/Captain FPGA, BSc) and Kurt Mungall (Head Professional at Kings Acre, PGA, TPI Certified).

Throughout the week, players will receive dedicated professional coaching, receive on-course guidance and play alongside PGA professionals, compete and meet new friends.  The golf camp is open to boys aged 8-17, and there are 10 spaces available for each group.

Junior Golf Camp (ages 8-11)

Morning Half Day – 9.00am to 12.00pm

Afternoon Half Day – 1.00pm to 4.00pm

Drop-off and collection at Kings Acre Golf Course, Lasswade, Edinburgh, EH18 1AU

The philosophy of the Junior Golf Camp is to introduce the game of golf to juniors aged between 8 and 11 either with little experience or a couple of years of instruction/playing.  Campers will learn the fundamentals of the game in a safe, fun and stimulating environment. Instruction will be given at a pace intended to maintain their attention and at the same time be appropriate for each individual’s skill level.  Our energetic PGA instructors will guide the youngsters through a series of games and exercises that will develop confidence and passion for the game of golf.  The Junior Camp environment is designed to allow the youngsters to meet other young golfers and to encourage enthusiasm and passion for the game.
