Electron Microscope Research Trip

Electron Microscope Research Trip

23rd November, 2018

AcademicSixth Form

On Thursday morning, we ran a LVI Form Biology excursion to Heriot Watt University to look at the Department of Geosciences Electron Microscope. Some 23 students had the opportunity to learn how these Electron Microscopes are used at the cutting edge of both university and commercial research. Under the guidance of Dr Jim Buckman, and the watchful eyes of Ms Williams and Dr Lilley, students were shown how this equipment is facilitating the development of new streams of biological and

Geological research.

As a bonus, whilst groups were having a coffee and waiting their turn in the café of the Marriott Hotel, students bumped into Scotland Rugby Captain, Greig Laidlaw, and crowd favourite, Stuart Hogg.

A great morning out!
