French Immersion Day
16th November, 2018
On Friday 2 November, we went to Strathallan to attend the LVI Form French Immersion Day, alongside pupils from Fettes, Glenalmond, Loretto and Stewart’s Melville. There were about 50 of us altogether, and we were all a bit nervous at the beginning as we had to speak French right from the first workshop.
We went through a variety of workshops in small groups: Speed Dating, Silent Video, Running Dictation, French Festivities, What’s Your Opinion? and Taboo. Lunch was Fish Friday, just like at Merchiston! We then listened to Richard Cooper, a French-English translator for the Federal Department of Finance in Switzerland.
All in all, it was a really good day as we had a chance to socialise with pupils from other schools and to compare our French with theirs.
