Stephen Dennis Director of Music

I was born two streets away from Bournemouth beach, and spent my summers in the sun. I always loved music and played the piano from a young age, preferring to improvise, rather than practice any of the music I was given.

At the age of 14, my musical career peaked, as my composition The Kings Entrance was included in the books - Piano Pastime, and Piano Adventures. I studied music at Edinburgh University and after completing my PGDE, began teaching at Merchiston in Autumn 2009.

I performed in several rock groups and recorded a few albums for other artists before discovering electronic music: I am currently releasing my second album.

When a student decides they want to continue with music beyond school.

INSPIRING MOMENT

Particularly at the moment, as we are emerging from COVID restrictions, LIVE MUSIC! For me, it has to be seeing my favourite group Moderat play live.
