David Whiteford OBE, BSc, FRSA, ARAgS Director, Merchistonian, Former Parent
David attended Merchiston from 1970 - 75.
He lives and farms in Easter Ross and holds various directorships within the Food and Drink sector David was a founding director of Scottish Food Quality Certification and is currently a Director of the Aberdeen University Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health. In addition he is Chair of Scotland's Food and Drink Hub and Food and Drink Logistics (Scotland). David was appointed Chair of the North Highland Initiative (one of HRH the Duke of Rothesay's Social Enterprises) in 2009. He was awarded the OBE in 2000 for services to Agriculture and elected a Fellow of the RSA in June 2007. He is a Director of Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd. David enjoys playing tennis at club level, skiing and golf. He is married to Joanie and has three children, Jenny, Claire and Rob, who is a Merchistonian and now at Bath University.
