Marathon Des Sables
22nd May, 2019
During the Easter break LVI Form pupil, Hector, completed The Marathon Des Sables, a 250 km run over 6 days in the Sahara desert. One of the youngest ever competitors in the Marathon Des Sables, Hector completed each stage with temperatures often exceeding 50 degrees.
Marathon Des Sables is a truly gruelling multi-stage adventure through a mythical landscape in one of the world’s most inhospitable environments – the Sahara desert. You have to be self-sufficient and carry all your own food and equipment for the week on your back. Communal goat’s-hair Berber tents are pitched every night but, apart from that you have to take it with you. Water is rationed and if you exceed the ration, you get a time penalty.

Hector is raising money for a charity close to his heart, Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis (OMS). We would like to congratulate Hector on his determination and drive to complete this once in a life time challenge for such a worthy cause.
