Day 4 in the Life of a Tennis Academy Pupil
Jacob, Lower VI Former and Co-Captain of Tennis, has travelled to Moldova this week for the Grade 2 ITF Junior World Ranking tennis event. He will be competing in matches all week in order to improve his ITF ranking. We will publish daily diary entries written by Mr Ashforth, Graduate Sports Assistant, who is accompanying Jacob on this trip.

Day 4
Never in my whole playing or coaching career have I been as stressed and anxious as I was when watching Jacob today. His passion, incredible hard work and commitment towards tennis is something to admire and makes you feel he never deserves to lose. But as we know, that’s not how the game works. He never gave up and fought right to the end, but unfortunately was beaten 7-6 (7-5), 6-4  by his opponent in the 2nd round.
To cheer each other up, we made our way into town for dinner and a few games of pool. Unfortunately for Jacob, he was not aware of my impressive win streak at pool in Pringle House. Another valiant effort from Jacob, but I claimed the glory 5 frames to 3.
Back to tennis and the boys will be in action in the form of doubles tomorrow, looking to progress to the semi-final.
