MOLDOVA: JUNIOR WORLD RANKING TENNIS DAY 5
9th February, 2018
Day 5 in the Life of a Tennis Academy Pupil
Jacob, Lower VI Former and Co-Captain of Tennis, has travelled to Moldova this week for the Grade 2 ITF Junior World Ranking tennis event. He will be competing in matches all week in order to improve his ITF ranking. We will publish daily diary entries written by Mr Ashforth, Graduate Sports Assistant, who is accompanying Jacob on this trip.
Amidst my new found role as tennis coach/blogger, I have gotten a bit carried away and almost completely forgot that I, in fact, work in education. Unfortunately for Jacob though, with a good chunk of time to kill, it quickly came back to me.
With the doubles match not starting until 7pm, Jacob got started on some biology work, not my strongest subject. After listening to Jacob recite his A Level notes to me, I left him to get stuck in and continue with his school work.
Jacob and his partner were finally on court just after 7pm and just like in the first round, they worked together in perfect harmony. They swept aside their opponents 6-3, 7-5 to book themselves a semi-final spot tomorrow afternoon. A fantastic achievement! Currently, a 75% win rate as a tennis coach. Watch out, Mr Brewer!
