Place2be Christmas Party

Place2be Christmas Party

12th December, 2018

Sixth Form

Last Wednesday, both primary school groups involved in the Place2be Mentoring Scheme came to Merchiston to enjoy the annual Christmas Party. Aside from party games in Memorial Hall, the children enjoyed a Christmas Cupcake Competition. All manner of edible decorations were on offer and the aim was to showcase festive creativity. All 50 cupcakes were made on site and as a result, it was a real struggle not to eat them before the judging took place!

The Catering Team made this a really special occasion with crackers, hot chocolate and lots of festive treats – the children all applauded a huge thank you at the end for all the superb catering. We then had music and more games before the children said goodbye to their mentors for the term. The Head Teacher from Longstone Primary and the Deputy Head from Balgreen Primary both attended and Mrs Edgar writes:

Many thanks to you, the other staff, and all the boys for the party. All the children had a wonderful time and have all said that it was a great ending to a good term. They have really enjoyed the sessions at Merchiston this year and seem to be getting a lot from them.

Merchiston also hosted a huge pop-up party at Longstone Primary, where two full primary classes enjoyed cakes, juice and crackers with the Merchiston Rugby Trainers. Thank you to everyone who has worked hard to make this so successful.

Finally thank you to the boys who travel every week to Davidson House and Balgreen Primary. Your commitment and enthusiasm has made this one of the most successful years thus far and aphorism that giving is indeed as rewarding as receiving seems to be a lesson well learned by this year’s fantastic LVI Form.
