House Clans

Our integrated House system, draws benefits from both the ‘horizontal’ and 'vertical' model and allows your son to benefit from peer interactions as well as offering opportunities to act as a role model from younger pupils.

In September 2014 the School launched the new Clan system which sees your son allocated to one of 4 vertical Clans, with boys of all ages, on joining Merchiston. We now have a full programme of competitive Clan events, owned by the pupils, and implemented with the help of staff.

Clan loyalty is strong. Your son will be able to represent his Clan in a range of competitive events designed to help him discover and showcase his talents, promote leadership skills in a variety of scenarios, and better get to know boys from other year groups across the School.
