PSHE
Personal, Social & Health Education
PSHE and Life skills are subjects that, although not formally assessed, are absolutely vital to the development of young minds. In a rapidly changing and sometimes challenging world, the value of providing pupils with opportunities to reflect, discuss and engage with real-life topics could not be more important.
Providing a slightly less formal space for pupils where they feel comfortable to talk openly, learn about, and debate the topics at hand is critical. These lessons, in concert with Tutorials, House Meetings and Assemblies, help to tie much of the Merchiston pupil’s school life together. Partnerships with Careers and Skills Development provide high quality opportunities for our pupils to develop both their academic and social skills. Our aim is to foster young adults ready to meet the challenges of life outside Merchiston Castle with confidence and dignity.
