Scottish Golf National area final

29th February, 2016

This event saw another really solid performance from our senior Golf Academy boys, who came out winners in the ISGA Scottish National Matchplay Area Final, played against a very spirited Glasgow Academy side.

The match was played over a neutral venue, Longniddry Golf Course, which was in superb condition, considering the recent prevailing weather conditions. With both teams raring to go and the opportunity of the winner going through to the UK National Finals, the stage was set for a super match.

All three matches were evenly contested, with Merchiston Captain, Angus, leading the way with some fine early form: he produced the first point in the bag for Merchiston, with a win on the 18th hole. Match 2 saw the in-form Calum keep his impressive unbeaten ISGA form, by winning 5/4. The final match saw the ever reliable Andrew storm to the front, going 5 up through 9 holes. Even a spirited fight back from his opponent could not stop him from coming out on top with an equally impressive 4/3 victory.

Congratulations to the team, which now looks forward to its trip to St Andrew for the Uk National Finals in April.
