Struan UVI Pupil, Senior Prefect and Deputy of Laidlaw South
When I first joined I was extremely excited but very nervous to start a new journey. However, the boys took me in well and I now feel very happy and included. Merchiston has seen me become more independent and more mature, as well as creating many opportunities. I have had so many highlights at Merchiston, a couple that stand out were the rugby dinner and the Lower Sixth activity day at Crieff Hydro.
I thoroughly enjoy my subjects I feel the teachers help us to learn at the best of our ability and push us to achieve. The equipment and facilities are incredible which helps to make learning more fun and enjoyable. Teachers are always around to offer help and support no matter which topic. Merchiston also creates the opportunity for boys to build relationships with teachers both inside and outside the classroom.
I feel the school offers opportunities in every single aspect across the board. All of these opportunities make our school a very special place. The location and ground of Merchiston are perfect. Although it is on the outskirts of the city it is also close enough to get anywhere in town with very little trouble.
If I was to offer my advice to a pupil joining Merchiston, it would be to throw yourself in and grab every opportunity with both hands and enjoy every minute.
My main interests are rugby, strength and conditioning and athletics. I also thoroughly enjoy academics.
When the first XV won the cup
An inspiring moment was when we had a talk about climbing mount Everest.
