Summer Pipe Band Concert
9th May, 2018
The annual Summer Pipe Band Concert took place on Tuesday 8 May in the Memorial Hall. The sizeable audience of parents and boys was treated to a concert which showcased the playing achievements of boys at various levels of their development.
The evening started with a drum display by the Pringle corps. We were then joined by boys and girls from the City of Edinburgh Schools Pipe Band, all of whom have progressed through our Sounds Like Friday project.
The Senior drum corps then played a fanfare and were joined by the Castle Pipers, our intermediate group, for Flower of Scotland and Amazing Grace. The Senior Pipers then came on to play their competition sets, a set of Jigs and The Steam Train to Mallalig.
Before the massed band of all the pipers and drummers provided a rousing finale, our Headmaster, Mr Andrew Hunter, gave a very appreciative Vote of Thanks for all the hard work which had gone into the evening’s entertainment from all of the performers and instructors.
It was an excellent evening enjoyed by all, and a great opportunity to illustrate the hard work and dedication which goes into our very successful Pipe Band.
