Ruth maclennan Pringle Housemaster
I joined the staff team in 2018 as Housemother in Pringle, a move that has proved to be both exciting and fulfilling. In the academic year 2019/20, I was delighted to take on the role of Housemaster in such a lively environment.
My background is in Children and Families Social Work, working in the cut and thrust of front line child protection. My specialism is residential child care and I come with 25 years' experience in this field. I have always been passionate about the pastoral care of children and young adults and helping them make the most of every opportunity that comes their way.
In my spare time I enjoy interior design and renovating old properties. I also love floral design and am a qualified florist. I love to entertain at home and especially enjoy long Sunday lunches.
To relax, I enjoy spending time with family and friends in our home in the Outer Hebrides. I love walking on the beach there, especially in the wild weather.
I have great fun going to gigs and concerts with my sons and their friends, although I think it’s about to stop being cool to have your mum with you!
My time at Merchiston has brought so many funny and inspiring moments. To me, the most rewarding and inspiring aspect has been seeing boys achieving things they never thought possible, however minor they may seem to others, and creating an environment where boys feel happy and secure.
