I grew up in the Trinity area of Edinburgh and moved to North Berwick as a teenager, where I attended North Berwick High School. After leaving school, I volunteered as a teacher in Thailand before returning to Scotland to study International Relations at St Andrews.
Inspired by my experiences overseas, I then trained as an English Language Teacher, eventually becoming Director of Studies, Teacher Trainer and later Principal at a local language school.
A few years ago, I went back to university to study an MSc in Mediation and Conflict Resolution at Strathclyde University. This led to a second career in Human Resources, first with Brown-Forman, then Edinburgh College, finally joining Merchiston in April 2021. I love my job and being part of the Merchiston community – you never know what the next day will bring!
Wandering around the Highlands and Islands, taking photos of misty mountains and trying to spot wildlife.
I’m also a massive foodie and love trying out new cuisines and eateries. And travelling – the next trip will be an interrailing adventure across Europe.
Completing the West Highland Way without getting a single blister! However, my proudest achievement is winning a national “Where’s Wally” drawing contest when I was seven.
