Clare flanagan Head of Modern Foreign Languages, Tutor in Laidlaw North
I started as Head of Modern Languages in January 2019, and am still learning about Merchiston. I teach classes from Pringle to UVI in French, and am also a teacher of German - hopefully I'll be able to offer that here too.
Having heard from others that this was a friendly school, I am delighted to find that to be the case. As a tutor in Rogerson, I have benefited from the humour and warmth there - of both pupils and staff. As a teacher, I have a fascinating range of colleagues in my department with great skills in teaching Spanish, French, Mandarin, Russian and German, and a variety of personalities and interests among my pupils.
It is also a place of tradition, and I enjoy the Scottishness of it, with the pipe band and the kilts. All we need now is Gaìdhlig and some curling.
Piano, golf, travel.
Greatest achievement possibly - catching an American football to the applause of the V Form.
