Juliet Vaughan Deputy Head (Academic) - Merchiston Juniors

I joined the Merchiston Juniors’ teaching team in Autumn 2006, following in my parents’ footsteps; my dad still teaches in the Maths department of the school and my mum previously taught English here too!

I am Deputy Head (Academic) in the Junior School. This means I am responsible for the academic side of life in the Juniors and I am also Head of Support for Learning.  I absolutely love my role; it is hugely varied and great fun! I really enjoy teaching in all our junior year groups, getting to know pupils well and helping our younger learners to develop their core skills and fulfil their undoubted potential.

Our wonderful pupils and hugely dedicated staff make Merchiston a very special place to learn and work. Every day is different; full of challenge and enjoyment!

Outside of school, I love spending time with my young family. I also enjoy travelling and have been lucky enough to visit lots of wonderful places.

My time at Merchiston has been full of inspiring moments; our pupils work really hard to succeed and be the best they can be.  It is a pleasure to watch our young pupils grow in confidence and stature during their time with us and develop in to wonderful, rounded young men. I am very proud to play a small part in that.
