The U15A cricket side has progressed to the National Finals of the Cricket Scotland Secondary Schools Cup. On a fresh but dry afternoon at Merchiston, the boys faced Fettes College in the semi-final. Fettes batted first, posting 100. This was a very disciplined performance in the field as Fettes had some very dangerous batters. Matthew, Owain and Tom SD were all outstanding with the ball. Merchiston knocked the total off in just 18 overs and 4 wickets down. A special mention must go to Tom M (Third Form), who batted through the innings for a mature 42 not out. Owain also contributed with a quick fire 25.

Next up was Loretto, which had beaten George Watson’s in the other semi-final. Loretto batted first, posting 63. Another good bowling performance, led by captain Douglas and Robert, meant that Merchiston had a very reachable total. Tom M (25 N.O.) and Milo were there at the end, with the boys chasing down the total with the loss of just 2 wickets.

They have now qualified for the National Finals Day on Tuesday 14 June 2016 at Perth Doo’cot Cricket Club.
