World War I centenary tree planting
11th November, 2014
Following a major renovation project, the cricket pavilion adjacent to Colinton Road was today officially renamed and designated as the ‘1914-2014 World War I Centenary Pavilion’. A new frontage offers splendid views, from its elevated position, across the playing fields.
Following an introduction by the Headmaster, Chairman of the Governors Malcolm Gourlay spoke briefly of his father’s service first as a sportsman at the School, and then in both world wars, before he officially planted a new tree (a willow, appropriately of the type cricket bats are made from) alongisde the pavilion.
