Saturday Rugby Club

With a proud rugby tradition and a strong commitment to developing the next generation of players, Merchiston is delighted to offer Saturday Morning Open Rugby this term.

Available to P7 and S1 players from local schools and clubs, these sessions provide an excellent opportunity for young players to develop their skills, build confidence and enjoy rugby on our renowned pitches, under the guidance of our professional coaching team.

The programme will combine focused training sessions with the opportunity to play fixtures, providing a balance of development and competitive rugby in a supportive environment.

Date: Saturdays from 29th August 2026 until the end of term
Time: 9.30am – 11.00am
Location: Merchiston Castle School, Edinburgh
Who: P7 & S1 rugby players from local schools and clubs who are under 12 years of age as of 1 September 2026
Cost: Free (registration required)

Join us on Saturday mornings for Open Rugby at Merchiston.

These sessions reflect Merchiston’s long tradition of supporting rugby development and community sport. Led by our expert coaching team, they offer young players the opportunity to:

• Train on our renowned pitches and make use of our excellent facilities
• Develop their skills in a fun, supportive and inclusive environment
• Learn from coaches with a proven record in player development at all levels

The focus will be on teamwork, enjoyment and developing a love of the game. These mornings are open to boys in P7 and S1 across Edinburgh and beyond who love rugby and want to take their game further.
